What does Housecall Pro really cost a 4-person crew?

US$13,750 a year on Housecall Pro's public price page: US$2,268 for the Essentials plan plus US$11,482 in card fees. In our trial account the same plan showed a higher list price, which makes it US$15,070 a year. Both use 80 invoices of US$400 a month, paid by card online, billed monthly. Public page read 2026-11-03; trial account read 2026-11-02.

One plan, three prices

Housecall Pro does not have one price for a plan. The same plan name costs different amounts depending on where you read it and who you say you are. Housecall Pro's own pricing page says "Give us a ballpark and we'll suggest a plan." Here is what we saw on 2026-11-02:

Housecall Pro's pages do not say why the in-app prices are higher. Our reading, not Housecall Pro's: the app prices the plan for the business size and trade you told it. The billing term is not shown on the in-app page. Basic is the plan without Membership plans (recurring service agreements): the app and the public page list those from Essentials up. First-period offers in the app (US$49 for the first month of Essentials, US$99 for 2 months of Max, US$199 for 3 months of Max+) are not plan prices, and none of the numbers on this page use them.

Estimates. Whole package = a year of subscription plus a year of card fees. Assumes every invoice is US$400, paid by a card the customer enters online at 2.99%, no ACH, tips or disputes, QuickBooks and GPS needed (both start at Essentials). The in-app column uses the "For individuals" price for one person and the "For teams" price for 4 people; we did not capture an 8-person price in the app. Basic (US$79 a month) is left out because it has no QuickBooks sync or GPS.

Card fees are 84% of the 4-person bill

For 4 people, US$11,482 of the US$13,750 is card fees. The plan you pick moves the total by hundreds of dollars, and your invoice volume and card mix move it by thousands. The rate that changes your bill most is the one you may not know you have turned on.

Klarna and PayPal Pay Later cost 4.99%

Housecall Pro's payments help article, dated 2026-07-20, says Klarna is switched on automatically for new Pros who activate Housecall Pro Payments from March 2026. If you activated earlier, you turn it on yourself in Settings, then Invoices. A customer who pays a US$400 invoice with Klarna or PayPal Pay Later costs you US$19.96. The same invoice paid by a card the customer types in online costs US$11.96. That is US$8.00 more on one invoice, and it adds up to US$4,800 a year at 80 invoices a month if every customer chose it.

Other card rates, and the invoice size where Housecall Pro stops being the cheaper card rate, are on the Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan page.

Getting paid faster costs more

Standard payout is 2 business days for cards. Up to 7 business days for your first payout, per the same help article. Instapay, the instant version, adds 1%, and a payment under US$75 pays an extra US$0.75 on top. Tap to Pay on a phone is US$5 per active device a month.

When Housecall Pro can hold or take back money

Housecall Pro's terms of service (last modified July 1, 2026) decide what happens to your cash when a payment goes wrong. Four lines matter:

  • Chargebacks: US$25 per chargeback, not refundable, "regardless of the outcome of the dispute." On a chargeback you are also "solely responsible for refunding" the processing fees from the original payment.
  • Payouts can be reversed: Housecall Pro may pay you before a customer's payment has fully settled. The terms call that payout "provisional" and say it "may be reversed" if the payment is returned, reversed, disputed or stopped.
  • A 60-day window: you must report a payment error within 60 days of it appearing on your transaction history, or the right to that money is waived.
  • A reserve: the terms let Housecall Pro hold back the amount of a likely chargeback and require a reserve that it can raise, reduce or remove at its discretion.

All four quoted from housecallpro.com/terms, read 2026-11-02. We have not tested how any of this plays out for a real account. It matters because a held payout hurts a small crew's cash more than a small fee gap does.

What leaving looks like

The pricing page says "No contracts" and you can cancel any time. The terms add the following:

  • Auto-renew: "All subscriptions automatically renew" at "the then-current fee" for your type of account, unless you end them before the renewal date.
  • Billing can change: Housecall Pro "may elect to modify your billing frequency at any time, without notice," with the example of billing a monthly subscription weekly.
  • Cancelling: by email to cancellations@housecallpro.com. Subscription fees are not prorated or refunded. Keep the reply.
  • Late fees: the lesser of 1.5% a month or the maximum the law allows.
  • Disputes: Colorado law, mandatory arbitration in place of court. You can opt out in writing within 30 days of becoming subject to it, by mail to Denver and by email to legal@housecallpro.com. A Canadian crew signs the same terms, which say the service is intended for users in the United States and Canada.

Housecall Pro reviews: what owners complain about, and the clause behind each

People searching "Housecall Pro review" are asking whether it is worth it. We do not give stars. These are the four complaints we saw repeated in public owner reviews in October 2026, each next to what Housecall Pro's own pages say and the one thing to check before you sign.

The complaintWhat the pages and terms sayCheck before you sign
Payouts delayed, or money from customer payments held back.Housecall Pro's terms say it may delay payouts or restrict access to your funds during an investigation or a pending dispute, may hold back the amount of a likely chargeback, and may require a reserve.Ask what triggers a hold and how long a review usually takes, and keep a second way to take payments.
Hard to cancel, or still billed after cancelling. The pricing page says you can cancel any time. The terms say to cancel by emailing cancellations@housecallpro.com, and that subscription fees are not prorated or refunded.Cancel by email before your next billing date, and keep the reply as proof.
Add-ons on top of the plan, priced only by a sales rep.Housecall Pro's pricing page lists Pipeline, Payroll and CSR AI with no price shown.Get the monthly price of every add-on you'd use in writing before the trial ends.
Card fees, and the extra charge for instant payouts, higher than expected.Housecall Pro's help article lists 3.49% for Amex, business cards and saved cards, against 2.99% for a card the customer types in online (see the Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan page). The terms also let Housecall Pro change its processing fees at any time.Price last month's invoices at these rates, and ask commercial customers to pay by bank.

Terms and pricing pages read 2026-10-26 and re-read 2026-11-02. The complaint wording is ours, a summary of repeated themes, not a quote of any one review.

What we saw in our own trial

On 2026-11-02 we started a 14-day Housecall Pro trial with no card entered and nothing bought (how we test). Sign-up itself: Housecall Pro's page says "14-Day free trial, No credit card required", and it asked for none. Our sign-up notes also record that it required a mobile number to continue and that a Housecall Pro sales rep phoned Ian the same day; we have no screenshot of either. The in-app banner reads "Save up to 83% when you start today", which is a first-period offer, not a plan price (see the price table above). Two things the trial settled:

Housecall Pro billing page, Explore Plans, For teams view: Essentials US$49 for 1 month, Max US$99 for 2 months, Max+ US$199 for 3 months, with the higher list prices struck through
Our trial account, 2026-11-02, "For teams" view for a plumbing company with 2 to 5 employees. The struck-through prices are list prices (US$299, US$649, US$1,149 a month). The big numbers are first-period offers.
  • The plan names are the same but the prices are not. The screen above is why this page shows three price views and does not print one number.
  • Service plans (recurring agreements) are on Essentials and above. The app ticks Membership plans on Essentials, Max and Max+, and has a Service plans screen, so it is not a Max-only feature.
Housecall Pro compare all features table, Invoicing and Payments section, with ACH bank transfers, Instapay and surcharging ticked on Essentials, Max and Max+
Our trial account, 2026-11-02. ACH bank transfers, card on file, Instapay and surcharging are ticked on all three plans, not only the top one.

What we did not capture: the Payments settings page with the card rates (the rates above come from Housecall Pro's help article), the add-on prices (the app lists add-ons such as CSR AI, Campaigns and Vehicle GPS by name with no price), the cancellation screen, and a price for 8 people in the app. We list these so you know where our numbers come from.

Canada

Housecall Pro bills in US dollars and, as of 2026-10-20, publishes no Canadian-dollar price or Canadian card rate, so we cannot price a whole Canadian package. The terms cover users in Canada. Instapay is available in Canada with a US$10,000 limit per payment, against US$50,000 in the United States. Our field service tool shows which apps publish Canadian prices.

Price history

This section grows each time our nightly check sees Housecall Pro change a price or a term.

  • 2026-11-03: we re-read the public page. Monthly billing: Essentials US$189, Max US$329. Annual billing: US$149 and US$299. Unchanged from our earlier reads.
  • 2026-11-02: trial account: higher list prices for the same plans (table above). Terms last modified July 1, 2026.
  • March 2026: Klarna switched on by default for new Payments activations (from Housecall Pro's help article).

Quick answers

How much does Housecall Pro cost a month?

On its public pricing page, read November 3, 2026: Basic is US$59 a month billed annually (US$79 billed monthly), Essentials is US$149 (US$189) and Max is US$299 (US$329). In our trial account the same plans showed higher list prices, from US$229 for Essentials for one person to US$299 for a 2 to 5 person team, so the price depends on where you read it.

Does Housecall Pro charge per user?

Plans include a set number of users (Basic one, Essentials up to 5, Max up to 8 on the public page). Max adds US$35 a month for each extra user on the public page; in our trial account the add-user price for a 2 to 5 person team was US$100 on Essentials and US$75 on Max and Max+.

Does Housecall Pro ask for a credit card to start?

Its own page says "14-Day free trial, No credit card required", and our sign-up on 2026-11-02 asked for no card. Our sign-up notes record that it required a mobile number to continue and that a Housecall Pro sales rep phoned Ian that day; we have no screenshot of either.

Is "Save up to 83%" the Housecall Pro price?

No. It is a first-period offer shown in the app (US$49 for the first month of Essentials, US$99 for 2 months of Max, US$199 for 3 months of Max+), not a plan price. Our arithmetic: US$199 against Max+'s US$1,149 list price is about 83% off, for the first 3 months only.

Not for you if

  • You want one firm price before you start: there is none. Ask for the price your own account shows, in writing, with the billing term.
  • Most of your money arrives by bank transfer in the United States: ACH is 1%, which beats every card rate, and the card-fee share above shrinks.
  • You are Canadian and need to bill in Canadian dollars: Housecall Pro publishes no Canadian-dollar price.
  • You cannot carry a payout held for a few days: keep a second way to take payments.
