Home / Field service software
What will field service software really cost my crew each year?
A 3-person crew sending 50 invoices of US$400 a month pays US$7,968 to US$9,528 a year in US dollars across the 3 apps we can price for these answers, and most of it is card fees.

Every link here is a plain link to the vendor's own site. No vendor has paid for placement. How we are paid.
Your best three
1. ServiceM8
Priced by jobs, not people: every user is included on the paid plans (Free is one user).
Not for you if your monthly job count swings past a plan's limit (7 days' grace, then a forced upgrade).
Price checked 2026-11-03, from the vendor's own page.
What this number assumes
- ServiceM8's US product page lists 3.1% + 30 cents on every plan; its US help centre lists 3.05% + 30 cents (both read 2026-11-03). We use 3.1%.
- In Canada the card rate falls by plan: Free 3.30%, Starter 3.10%, Growing 2.85%, Premium and Premium Plus 2.69%, each plus 30 cents; international and Amex cards are 3.90% + 30 cents. ServiceM8 confirmed these rates and terms on 2026-11-03; the 1.19% we saw on one Premium Plus page is the Australian rate.
2. Housecall Pro
Essentials adds membership plans (service agreements), QuickBooks and GPS; Max adds the pipeline and route optimisation.
Not for you if you want one firm price: the same plan is priced by team size and by where you read it (public page against the in-app recommendation), so check the price your own account shows before you sign.
Price checked 2026-11-02, from the vendor's own page.
What this number assumes
- Price view: the public pricing page, monthly billing, checked 2026-11-02. Annual billing on the same page: Essentials US$149, Max US$299 a month.
- In the app, the price for a 2 to 5 person team showed Essentials US$299 and Max US$649 a month list, and for one person Essentials US$229 and Max US$349 (checked 2026-11-02). Promotional first-month prices are not the plan price.
- Card rate: 2.99% for a payment entered online, with no fixed fee in this model; 2.59% in person and 3.49% keyed.
3. Jobber
QuickBooks, GPS and routing come with the Connect plan used here.
Not for you if you have more than 15 people (Jobber lists no price), or in Canada you need ACH or the card reader (US only) or Interac on Tap to Pay (not supported).
Price checked 2026-11-01, from the vendor's own page.
What this number assumes
- Billed in US dollars in Canada: no CAD price and no conversion is shown.
- The Jobber pricing page has changed since our earlier notes (the 40% promotion has ended): the re-check flagged it.

Not priced, and why
- Tradify: Not a fit for these answers. GPS tracking is not listed on any plan, on the public page or in a Canadian trial account, so it does not meet the GPS must-have as published.
- Fergus: Not a fit for these answers. Fergus's public page ticks GPS on Essentials, but a Fergus trial account lists GPS tracking on the Professional plan only. The two disagree, so we do not count Fergus as meeting the GPS must-have until it is settled.
- GorillaDesk: Not a fit for these answers. Built for route-based work (lawn, pest, pool); priced per route.
- ServiceTitan: Quote only. ServiceTitan publishes no price, so there is nothing to compute. Ask it for one.
- Workiz: Quote only. The public page is quote-only. A trial account shows Standard at US$275 a month (US$229 if paid annually) and Pro at US$325 (US$270), for 1 to 5 users, with an annual commitment either way; Ultimate is quote only. Card rates are not published, so no whole-package cost.
- Service Fusion: Quote only. From US $245 a month with unlimited users, but GPS tracking is a paid add-on whose price is not published, so a whole-package cost cannot be computed.
Not available in Canada
- Jobber: ACH payments and the physical card reader are US only; Tap to Pay does not support Interac, and payments over $250 may exceed Tap limits. Source, confirmed 2026-11-02.
- ServiceTitan: Tap to Pay and Pay by Bank are US only; mobile check capture is not available in Canada. Source, confirmed 2026-11-02.
- Tradify: Tradify's own card payments (Access) are UK and Australia only; Canada uses Stripe at 3.1% + 0.30 with a 7-day first payout. Source, confirmed 2026-11-02.
- Fergus: No Canadian site. Not offered here. Source, confirmed 2026-11-02.
In Canada, none of the vendors we read publishes an Interac fee. Jobber says its app supports English and Spanish only, and Housecall Pro, Tradify and ServiceM8 do not say whether they support French. Most do not say how they handle GST, HST and PST. We label these as not published and never imply support.
Quick answers
What does field service software cost a small crew a year?
A 3-person crew sending 50 invoices of US$400 a month pays US$7,968 to US$9,528 a year in US dollars across the 3 apps we can price for these answers, and most of it is card fees.
Why does the tool include card fees?
For most crews the card fees are a bigger bill than the software. Every number here is a year of software plus a year of card fees on the invoices you enter, so two apps with similar plan prices can end up thousands apart.
Which apps does the tool leave out?
Apps that publish no price (quote only) or are not offered in your country are listed below the results with the reason. We do not guess a price for them.
What these numbers assume
- Every invoice is the average you chose, paid by card entered online, monthly billing, no tips, disputes or instant payouts.
- One invoice is one job. The yearly cost is the software for 12 months plus 12 months of card fees: percentage of your card volume plus the fixed fee on each payment.
- Left out because they are optional or unpriced: text messages (except where noted), Jobber Receptionist, Tradify's website add-on, Fergus certificates, taxes and hardware.
- Canada: prices are in the currency each vendor bills in. Only ServiceM8 and Tradify publish Canadian dollar prices; the others bill in US dollars and we do not convert. Amounts exclude GST and HST.
The table behind the tool: a 3-person crew, 50 invoices of $400
Same assumptions for every vendor, US dollars, monthly billing. GPS is not required in this table so Tradify can be priced, and GorillaDesk assumes every person runs a route. Estimates built from each vendor's own published prices, checked 2026-11-01.
| Vendor | Software a year | Card fees a year | Whole package |
|---|---|---|---|
| ServiceM8 | US$348 | US$7,620 | US$7,968 |
| Fergus | US$1,116 | US$7,260 | US$8,376 |
| Tradify | US$1,692 | US$7,620 | US$9,312 |
| Housecall Pro | US$2,268 | US$7,176 | US$9,444 |
| Jobber | US$2,388 | US$7,140 | US$9,528 |
| GorillaDesk | US$2,448 | US$7,140 | US$9,588 |
| Workiz, ServiceTitan, Service Fusion | No whole-package cost: Workiz and ServiceTitan do not publish card rates or a full price list, and Service Fusion's GPS is a priced-separately add-on with no published price. | ||
Card-rate differences alone move a 3-person crew by about US$480 a year (2.9% + 30 cents against 3.1% + 30 cents on $20,000 a month).
What we checked ourselves
We check each vendor first-hand where we can (how we test): a trial account, read by us, nothing bought and no card entered. Where a check is still missing it is marked, and the numbers above come from the vendor's own published page. Status as of November 3, 2026:
Jobber (trial account, 2026-11-02)
- In a trial account the plan page shows Connect at US$139 for 1 user, US$199 for 2 to 5 people and US$299 for 6 to 10 people a month (regular, monthly), matching the public page.
- The app recommends Grow (US$199, US$299, US$399 for the same three sizes) and Plus (US$499, US$599) above Connect.
- Receptionist is US$29 a month for 30 conversations.
- A sign-up offer on day one: 20% off a monthly plan for 3 months, or 13% off annual, with a countdown of about 2.5 hours, not available to current or former customers.

Housecall Pro (trial account, 2026-11-02)
- A trial account for a plumber with 2 to 5 employees shows each plan priced in two ways: the public page (Essentials US$149 annual, US$189 monthly; Max US$299 annual, US$329 monthly) and in the app (for one person Essentials US$229, Max US$349; for a 2 to 5 person team Essentials US$299, Max US$649, a higher Max+ at US$1,149, all list prices).
- Membership plans (service agreements) are on Essentials and above, not Basic.
- Not captured by us yet: Payments rate sheet
- Not captured by us yet: Which view applies to your account is only visible after sign-up
Tradify (trial account, 2026-11-02)
- A Canadian trial account shows Lite CA$62, Pro CA$68 and Plus CA$80 per user a month.
- GPS tracking is not listed on any plan.
- Card payments connect through Stripe; the Instant Website add-on shows US$16 a month.

- Not captured by us yet: Checkout
Fergus (trial account, 2026-11-02)
- The trial account was set up with New Zealand defaults and New Zealand dollar prices (Basic NZ$53, Professional NZ$75), so none of those prices are used here.
- In that account GPS tracking is a Professional plan feature, not Basic, which conflicts with the public US page.
- Not captured by us yet: A trial started from the US flow, to settle the per-user price and the GPS gate
ServiceM8 (trial account, 2026-11-02)
- The in-app plan list shows Free (30 jobs, 1 user), Starter US$29 (50 jobs), Growing US$79 (150), Premium US$149 (500) and Premium Plus US$349 (1,500), all with unlimited users except Free, matching the public page.
- Recurring jobs are included on every plan.
- Not captured by us yet: The card payment rate screen (needs a merchant connection)
- Not captured by us yet: What happens over the job limit
- Not captured by us yet: GPS
GorillaDesk (trial account, 2026-11-02)
- Pricing is per schedule: 1 schedule Basic US$49, Pro US$99, Growth US$149 a month; 6 schedules Basic US$239, Pro US$349, Growth US$549. Pro at 6 schedules is US$99 plus 5 x US$50, which confirms the per-route model we use.
- GPS device tracking and QuickBooks Online sync start on Pro; service plans (recurring agreements) are Growth only; Pro carries a US$25 AI receptionist credit.
- Not captured by us yet: The card payment rate (it uses your own Stripe or Square)
- Not captured by us yet: Canadian availability
Workiz (trial account, 2026-11-02)
- A trial account shows Standard at US$275 a month (US$229 if paid annually) and Pro at US$325 (US$270), 1 to 5 users included, extra users US$55 or US$46 (Pro US$65 or US$54), with an annual commitment even on monthly payment.
- Service plans, inventory and flat-rate pricing are Ultimate only, and Ultimate is quote only.
- Not captured by us yet: Card payment rates
ServiceTitan
No first-hand check yet.
- Not captured by us yet: A written quote (quote request not answered yet)
Service Fusion
No first-hand check yet.
- Not captured by us yet: A demo and a written quote including the GPS add-on price
Each check is a trial account we opened, with nothing bought and no card entered. The date is shown beside each vendor.
What changed
- 2026-11-02: Canada answers added: Canadian dollar plan prices for ServiceM8 and Tradify, Jobber billed in US dollars, Fergus and GorillaDesk not priced for Canada.
- 2026-11-02: Housecall Pro priced from its public page, with the in-app prices for one person and for a 2 to 5 person team shown beside it: the same plan is priced differently by view.
- 2026-11-02: first-hand trial checks added for seven vendors. Two changed the page: Fergus's own trial lists GPS on its Professional plan, which conflicts with its public page, so Fergus is not counted as meeting a GPS must-have; and GorillaDesk's per-schedule prices confirmed our per-route model.
- 2026-11-01: US prices read from each vendor's own page.
