US$3.78 is what Etsy takes: US$0.20 listing, US$2.28 transaction and US$1.30 processing. You keep US$31.22. An Offsite Ads order adds US$5.25, more than all three.

The Offsite Ads cliff: 15% until a shop’s year reaches US$10,000, then 12% for life
Etsy charges this fee only when a buyer clicks one of its off-Etsy ads and orders within 30 days. On the example it is US$5.25 at 15% or US$4.20 at 12%, so the order pays US$9.03 or US$7.98 in all, 25.8% or 22.8% of the sale. If the last click was an Etsy Ad, only the Etsy Ads fee applies.
The line is US$10,000 of item sales over the prior 365 days: price times quantity, not shipping, tax or gift wrap. A US$30 item reaches it in 334 orders, about 28 a month, before discounts. Below it a shop may opt out; once over, it cannot, and the lower rate stays even if sales fall.
When the 12% starts, in Etsy’s words
- Etsy totals the prior 365 days of item sales on the first day of each month.
- At US$10,000 or more, the 12% starts on the first day of the month following qualification.
Etsy does not say whether a shop that passes US$10,000 partway through a month pays 12% from the next first-of-month or the one after. Read literally, the April 1 check sees the sales and 12% starts May 1. We have not tested it.

Etsy prints no share of orders that come from these ads, so the rows are our examples, each at the rate its seller size selects once the shop has passed the line (a new shop pays 15% until then).

Etsy shows the credit as US$3.00; at US$0.20 a listing that is 15 listings. A shop creating 10 listings a month uses US$2.00 of it (our reading). The ads credit is shown on your Etsy Ads page, so we count it only against Etsy Ads spend. On credits, Plus is cheapest at US$2.00 a month, US$24.00 a year. Its other tools have no price on those pages, so we value them at nothing.

How much does Etsy take from a US$20 item with US$5 shipping?
A US$20 item with US$5 shipping is US$25.00 charged. Listing fee US$0.20; transaction fee 6.5% = US$1.63; processing fee 3% + US$0.25 = US$1.00. Total US$2.83.
How much does Etsy take from a US$100 item with US$5 shipping?
On US$100 plus US$5 shipping (US$105.00), Etsy takes US$0.20 for the listing, US$6.83 as the transaction fee (6.5%) and US$3.40 for processing (3% + US$0.25): US$10.43. If US$100 is the whole sale, a US$95 item with US$5 shipping pays US$9.95.
Why is Etsy charging me US$10 a month?
Etsy lists a US$10.00 monthly fee for Etsy Plus, which sellers opt in to. It is deducted from your balance each month. Etsy says you can cancel under Your Subscription in Shop Manager Settings and keep access to the end of that cycle.
Does the Offsite Ads fee hit every order?
No. Only orders placed within 30 days of a buyer clicking one of Etsy’s off-Etsy ads.
What should I charge to keep a profit?
With US$12.00 of your costs and US$5 shipping charged, an item price of US$19.80 keeps US$10.00.
Not for you if
- You sell from outside the USEtsy prints another processing fee for each bank-account country. We modelled a US seller.
- You list in a currency other than your payment account’sEtsy adds 2.5% currency conversion on the sale amount. It is not in the calculator.
